AEI has been providing tank management, closures, and training services since the beginning of the PA Storage Tank Spill Prevention Act of 1989. AEI has provided administrative and technical training to over 1,000 PA tank handling professionals. We have completed hundreds of tank handling projects and have worked with many owners to receive grants to assist with tank closure expenses.

What You Need to Know
If a tank is registered in Pennsylvania owners and operators must use Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) certified installers and inspectors to perform tank handling activities.
Tank Closure

AEI has been providing tank closure services since 1991for underground and above ground tanks throughout Pennsylvania. We can provide complete closure services or a portion of the closure for owners and contractors who want to reduce costs by completing portions of the closure themselves.
Tank Regulatory Compliance

Owners and operators are required to maintain permits and information in accordance with PA Act 32 requirements. If you have a regulated tank records must be maintained for inspections, upgrades, leak detection, corrosion protection, and closures. AEI can assist with an analysis of the requirements and development of a record keeping requirement matrix. Although AEI does not provide installation or inspection services, we do work with other certified installers and can assist with various tank projects.
Tank Training Courses

AEI offers PADEP-certified training classes for the following certifications:
- UMR – Initial
- UMR – Renewal
- AMR – Renewal
These courses are typically offered at our New Brighton location but can be performed at your facility if you have five or more people requiring training. Investigations
Environmental investigations and remediation of soil and water, from small surface soil investigations to complex multi-aquifer assessments.
Tanks
Tank closure typically includes the removal of remaining product, cleaning of the tank system, the sampling of the soil and groundwater around the tank, completion of a written closure report, and how to obtain financial assistance.
Compliance
Routine NPDES sampling, Visible Emission Monitoring (EPA Methods 9 & 22), completion of new or renewal permit applications, environmental reporting and plans, and waste characterization are some of the compliance services offered.
