What You Need to Know
The use of water resources in general requires some type of permit, whether the water is used for drinking or in a commercial or industrial process. Water usage for drinking (except individual wells) is regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act, while discharges to navigable waterways requires a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit as required by the Clean Water Act. AEI has on staff Pennsylvania certified operators for water and wastewater systems who have experience with these programs.
AEI can assist clients with the preparation of new or renewal permit applications, including TOMP. AEI will coordinate and manage the sampling and analytical program and complete the necessary forms for submission to the appropriate agency, whether it is an individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) direct discharge, pre-treatment NPDES, or General Permit. AEI can also assist with Drinking Water Permitting and other compliance requirements under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
Routine NPDES Wastewater and Storm Water Sampling
AEI provides routine NPDES sampling at facilities as needed to comply with customer permits. We can use the customer’s equipment, or provide automatic sequential samples to collect time composites. AEI also provides electronic reporting to the regulatory agencies as required. AEI provides storm water sampling as required in individual permits and general permits.
System Troubleshooting and Field Data Collection
AEI can assist clients with system data collection to aid in the evaluation of the wastewater treatment system. In the event a system is not performing adequately, or if new equipment and/or chemicals are being changed to improve system performance AEI can assist with these changes.
Tank closure typically includes the removal of remaining product, cleaning of the tank system, the sampling of the soil and groundwater around the tank, completion of a written closure report, and how to obtain financial assistance.
Routine NPDES sampling, Visible Emission Monitoring (EPA Methods 9 & 22), completion of new or renewal permit applications, environmental reporting and plans, and waste characterization are some of the compliance services offered.
